Egg & Milk Share Sign Up: Jan 22, 2017 – April 22

eg milkSign up for another round of our delicious eggs and milk shares! Next week is the last week for the current share, so it’s time to sign up for our winter/spring subscription. By prepaying for 13 weeks, you receive a discount on your egg and milk purchases. The current 13 week share will be completed the week ending January 21, and the next installment will begin the week of January 23, with the first milk share pick up starting on Wednesday, January 25.

Why get your eggs and milk from Farmers & Artisans? Our farm fresh brown eggs, sold by the dozen or half dozen, come from pastured hens that have not been treated with either hormones or antibiotics. Their feed is non-GMO.

The milk, in gallons and half gallons, and now quarts, is from a herd of Jersey cows that are pastured and not treated with any hormones or antibiotics. The whole milk is low-temp pasteurized and non-homogenized, preserving nutrition that is lost with ultra-pasteurization and homogenization. Note: the low-fat milk will continue to be homogenized.

Terms & Conditions: Milk is delivered on Wednesdays, therefore the milk and egg share pick up runs Wednesday to Tuesday of the following week. Please be advised that if you miss your pick up for your weekly milk share, you will forfeit your milk share for that week. Also please note that you must bring in your own egg carton weekly to fill. Please do not leave your used egg carton here. We legally cannot reuse old cartons. If you need a new carton, the price is $.35.

Click here to print the order form and drop it off with your payment at the store, or you can now sign up and pay for your egg and milk share online through our Shopify Farm to Work site. Pick up is still here at the store on Main Street.

This Week’s Picks & Pairings: 10% Off Old Chatham Kinderhook Cheese & Three Citrus Marmalade (Saturday, March 7 through Friday, March 13)

marmaladeplusThis week’s Picks & Pairings make a tasty combo. Try this Kinderhook Creek Mini from Old Chatham Sheepherding Company, made with 100% pasteurized sheep’s milk. This 3.5 oz round is a creamy, spreadable cheese with a soft rind and a nutty aroma. Highly addicting! Old Chatham Sheepherding Company’s flock has about 1000 East Friesian purebred and crossbred ewes, making it the largest sheep dairy farm in the United States.

Enjoy our new Farmers & Artisans Three Citrus Marmalade. Our canning instructor, Kathy Manley, is now making our own line of “farm to jar” preserves.  We made this one with organic red grapefruits and Hamlin oranges from Thorpe’s Florida Farm, and added a hint of lime. So delicious paired with the Kinderhook cheese, on toast or even as a glaze on fish or chicken. Keep an eye out for more Farmers & Artisans specialty preserves.
